Fiorentina reject AC Milan’s €20m midfielder bid
AC Milan tried to sign Sofyan Amrabat last summer but without success. The Morocco international remains a target for Milan’s midfield.
Fiorentina and its president Rocco Commisso invested 20 million euros to purchase Sofyan Amrabat in 2020. The Moroccan midfielder had a fantastic debut season with Hellas Verona under the guidance of coach Ivan Juric but has been unable to replicate the same form this year at Fiorentina.
The 24-year-old has struggled under Cesare Prandelli at one point losing his starting position. In the last three games he has only played one minute against Genoa but new coach Beppe Iachini is ready to relaunch him.
AC Milan, as well as Napoli, were among the teams that tried to sign Amrabat before moving to Florence. The talented central midfielder apparently remains high on Paolo Maldini’s list of transfer targets.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive.it) reports that AC Milan have recently made a 20 million bid for Sofyan Amrabat, the same fee Fiorentina paid one year ago. Despite Amrabat not living up to expectations so far, the Viola still have faith in him and president Commisso rejected Milan’s offer.
The Rossoneri must sign at least one central midfielder in the summer. Milan have decided not to make Meite’s transfer permanent and at the end of the season the French midfielder will return to Torino. Maldini is looking for a new partner for Sandro Tonali, Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie.
